A green dilemma and some extras

I increased the temperature as it was really getting cold, I guess Honda’s air-cond can also match Proton in a day like this. I looked to the right and saw a lot of frustrated faces. I don’t blame them, the path ahead of them was filled with vehicles, while I was only 2 lights away from my home. Of course, I had to make a few de-tour to come to this which includes making a journey back to my original starting point just to take the highway.

But what is more frustrating?.... it was 10.35pm!!!!

Yeah, traffic jam, at such unbelievable hour, or perhaps we should learn to accept it if we choose to stay in this metropolitan city called Kuala Lumpur. Of course, the weather didn’t help much. It has been raining thunder-storm-struck for the last 4 or 5 days resulted in flash floods. Speaking of which, what happened to the supposedly counter-flood-enabled SMART tunnel system?

I’ve blogged about traffic before and really, it’s getting from worst to worstest and soon… beyond description. I dread to think how traffic will be in the next 5 years. Just like Cirnelle, taking a step to the greener pasture is certainly a consideration.

Is the grass always greener on the other side? That remains to be seen, but you know what? The grass is certainly brown here. You know why? Cause the flood water carried much mud and left it on the grass, that’s why! I will certainly deliberate more about this in days to come...

Meanwhile, have you heard the news? It's spreading in the blogosphere. C
heck out this poem which has been extracted from this site

From This Day Forward
Author Unknown

From this day forward,
You shall not walk alone.
My heart will be your shelter,
And my arms will be your home.

Does it sound familiar t you. If you have read the comics mainstream news last week, you might have read something similar already. Another 'sam jiu' phenomena eh?

More blogs talking about this here, here and the whole poem was disected here.

Speaking of “sam jiu” incidents… guess rules can be bent everywhere around the world… for those who knows what happened to Paris Hilton will know what I am talking about.

Now… for the Monday blues…

Dedicating a song to the couple and giving credit to the appropriate singer/composer would have been a safer avenue.

If an original poem was so hard to compose, our so-called 'poet' should have consulted our bunch of talented bloggers. So many original poems have been composed since this story broke. :)

By the way, since I am not living in KL, I need to ask... when is this SMART tunnel ready? Waiting to build toll booths? Oh wait, that would have gone up first before the tunnel. hee hee hee (Oh! I miss my Malaysia)

I use public transport here, 1 euro for one hour you can use it for the tramway and bus. Very punctual and covers lots of area. Hope one day Malaysia will have efficent public transportation system.

Yes the grass is indeed greener on the otherside, case in point, today is still Sunday for me when it's already Monday for you, muahahahahaha.

Lol, grass is greener for me here at the moment. Still Sunday, still holidays for me until end of next month, no jams, no complaints, no plagiarism. Best of all? No frustration!

I've heard people saying the grass is greener on the other side because there's a lot of "fertilizer" there. Which to a certain extend I agree.

Eeee... ciplaker!!

I haven't been here in a long time :).
Haven't been anywhere related to BLOGS actually!

Quite some changes since my last visit ;) - I'll have to catch up soon!

Exams are killing me. Duh.

Just saying hello! lol.

I don't have traffic jam problem here as i'm living in small city.

There are traffic jams in the big cities here too and highways..it's just that people here don't need to pay toll. In KL, we pay toll and still have to jam..This is the most annoying part for me. But luckily i don't need to experience it anymore.

Somemore public transport is very efficient here too.

Talking about grass, grass here is indeed greener with cow's shit smell. :P

Traffic jam in KL at those hours? Think the nightlife must be bustling again or issit the flash flood?

Grass greener on the other side? Its a complex issue. All depends on the person, his or her situation and the opportunities over the 'other side'. Not that straight forward. You have give up certain things here to gain certain things there. Always with trade offs.

Our friend who recited the poem? He is only being himself!

i believe each country has its pros and woes...so the grass can be whatever colour you want it to be. if you migrate, it'll not be an easy path...facing new challenges ...but if that's what your heart wants..live your dream. you only live once.

Bergen said...

First they said the tunnel was what we need to solve the flood problems. Now that we've got the tunnel, they say the retention pond is the key to the whole thing. By the time we got the tunnel, they're gonna say something else like we need less rain, so in order to have less rain, we've gotta have less cloud. The only way to do that is to have giant fans installed at strategic places to blow away the clouds. We can use the digging machine they used to dig the tunnel. Just add a turbo to make the blades go faster.
Welcome to KL, folks. We've got enough genius here to turn this whole country into a space shuttle.

Yes, Monday is blue indeed... and I do think the grass is greener on the other side when viewed through the glasses of fantasy. But, it's highly likely that I will still be here, viewing the brown (but not dry!) grass unless something miraculous happens.

The last day I worked in K.L was 1 wk before Independent day 1991. The last day when I had to work, man, it took me 21/2 hrs from PJ.14 to Wang Dangi road. I was hot man ! I swore to myself that I will never never work in a city with such bad traffic. It is just rediculous. I have never return to work in K.L ever. I don't know how the traffic has turned to good or bad ever since I left. I only been to the airport on transit now. Thank goodness ! I kesian you !

I think living in crowded city made me have high blood pressure, it is bad bad bad !!!! I don't want to have another stroke !

Dear Zewt,

I saw the traffic last night along Jalan Tun Razak (opposite IJN) and it was unspeakable. And yes it was 10.30 pm on a Sunday night.

The smart tunnel isnt so smart after all. Flash flood still flashing after few hours of rain.

Hah, you heard about the plagiarism thing also? What was he thinking?

Good day Zewt

I heard about the flood and bad traffic and the lousy SMART tunnel/project even though I am miles away from KL...

so, I blamed Sami Vellu for his handicapped project again.

Then purple mushroom reminded me SMART project was Mr.M project...

@#$%! Well, black cat or white cat, it's a bloody cat!!

glad the paris is sent back to serve her sentence in a 'real' jail :) ahaks, the SMART not yet completed after all. From the report just the traffic part is completed (the top part). Then the ponds, and drainages that supposed to compliment the SMART tunnel usage still in contruction. Sabar lah Zewt :P Bwahahahahahah! (Glad to see Abdullah made his 'suprise' visit to the Bilik Gerakan Banjir to clarify things out. Power question is 'Mengapa tak siap lagi??')

LOL at that blatant plagiarism.

Anyway, maybe it was written by one of his aides (secretary, whatever), who decided to go on the internet to source for ideas. He/she probably forgot that the poem would be made public.

no shite, i was stuck in that stupid jam too!! 1.5hr to go from persiaran ampang hilir to jln tun razak, u say ccb ornot?? that stupid tunnel near the benz showroom was blardy flooded, and only one car at a time cud pass thru the flooded road at abt 5kmph! tiu!!! and yeah, was wondering wat the hell happened to the assinie SMART tunnel...a waste of taxpayers' money as usual!

J.T. said...

Hey Zewt

You mean SMART is in operation already? All that talk about its construction and what it will do for KL - saw it on a documentary in the States last year on Discovery Channel (or something like that).
Evidentally it is still not helping with the floods in KL. ;)
So, for now we go with the excuse of "it is only Phase 1". Ok lah.. we wait. :P
Maybe that cable channel should do a follow up on "Whatever Happened to...?" hehehe

Miss Malaysia? Yeah, its people and the food. The system - I will refrain from saying anything more. :)

The best part I heard was flooding in the tunnel, if I heard correctly la

kayatan - just now, i went to a building and the car park was full of mud!!! i quickly get my things done and left before the storm comes again... like i said.. KL is getting more and more un-live-able.

elizabeth DL - yeah... someone just sent me a set of pictures of yest's flood, dunno if i should post them all up for you to see.

zewt said...

bongkersz - yeah, i heard about that... aiyah... i only have one phrase for them... "SAM JIU" la!!!

sooi2 - hahaha... i think when i looked to the right... i could have seen your face! :P ... that tunnel... c'mon... sam jiu ler...

JT - did you read bergen's comment... i think we will soon have to build a giant fan to blow all the clouds away! now... that could be something worthy of malaysian book of records.

zeroimpact - you had? oh man... that sucks!!! i think i will curse the whole wide world if that happens to me!
