Short & Sweet: Ep. 8 - 3 facts

Fact 1 –
A lot of Malaysians complain about Malaysia and refer to Singapore as a better country.

Fact 2 –
A lot of Singaporeans then say Malaysians under Fact 1 are stupid because these Singaporeans think Singapore is worse and that Malaysia is actually a better country.

Fact 3 –
You see Malaysians under Fact 1 migrating to Singapore, but you hardly (or never) see Singaporeans under Fact 2 migrating to Malaysia.

I've heard that, too.

On the other hand, the Malays in Singapore are migrating to Malaysia because they are treated like second class citizens. A few of my Singaporean Malay friends already migrated here and some are considerign.

So far, I haven't heard of Singaporeans saying Malaysia is a better country. And they did, I guess it will only be a handful

zpseab said...

I haven't really heard many Singaporeans say that either...

Monyet King said...

So the moral of the story ? Both Malaysians and Singaporeans are stupid ?

Fact 4: Many Malaysians head to Singapore for shopping sprees. But not many Singaporeans doing the same in Malaysia.

Fact 5: Singaporeans always refer to Malaysian food as good food and travel out here often to fill their bellies.

Hehe...

I think how a country is being governed spells a great difference between which country is better. As an outsider, Malaysia is a lot more beautiful to me than Singapore, and Singapore is a place of rigid prosperity.

So, you tried to hint that Singapore is better than Malaysia? Hmm... I still like Malaysia more than Singapore, haha!

Huei said...

hmm..i still prefer msia! =P

sgporeans r moving to jb..cos cost of living is cheaper!! n also..erm..buy dvd gua! =P

Whenever I introduced myself and where I came from to the mat salleh, people always made blurry face. When I explained Malaysia is a neighbor to Singapore, a lot of them replied "Oooh, Singapore". Even a Malaysian restaurant owner in San Francisco had to put his restaurant's name as Singapore Malaysian Restaurant though the food I should say, 90% originated from Malaysia. I made a joke with a friend of mine about this "If people complaint the food was bad, they will mentioned "Ha, don't go to that Singapore restaurant" but not Malaysian restaurant (cos the name is too long). Now, who's smarter? Hahaha

Malaysians under Fact 1 are either drugged up on some heavy shit or suffering from some form of delusion!!

Fact 4: sporeans under fact 2 are now in oz.

InjusticeSistem said...

I thk it is bcos....now im only assuming ok...cos i don live in spore so i don know la but i guess/assume it is bcos:

Fact 1:
I guess these group of msians are sick n tired of gomen corruption, low wages,NEP and uitm

Fact 2:
I guess these group of sporeans are sick n tired of cheap workforce that are equally capable as them and work longer hours than them, yeah these cheap labour must be from msia, so life in msia must be better cos most of msian workforce working in msia are less smart compare to those msians working in spore....'hint hint'

Fact 3:
there r plenty of sporeans migrating to msia....i thk it is bcos our tourism minister hv been very good in promoting malaysia my second home program....or was it dat NEP tat attracted 'these' group of sporeans....or perhaps these group of ppl were attracted by the high standard of education set by uitm

I dunno man....just only assuming...

some Malaysians have always bragged about Singapore. and my Singaporean friends too do think that Malaysia is waaay much better.
hmm, how come ahh?

the grass is always greener on the other side.

I personally am a Singaporean and I had always think that Singapore is better. As much as we like to complain about the government, migration to Malaysia isn't much of a plan to us. Europe, Canada and USA are usually our choice for migration. Or at least that what the people around me think.

cleffairy said...

Sigh... the grass always seems to be greener on the other side, but in truth, grass are just the same everywhere. :(

Aye. And I just had a couple of Malaysians-working-in-Singapore-now-PRs-there visit us during the weekend, and all they could do was complain about this and that...

Maybe Singapore has a more effective way of absorbing Malaysians into their culture than we do? :P

MKL - all the way in slovenia eh :)

Jerine - i dont think that is happening.

Sapphire Dragon - well, almost all singaporeans i know talk about that. just check out some of the post i talk about singapore, you can see it there.

zpseab - hi! u need to get to know more singaporeans :)

monyet king - hahaha... and none are smart.

Pinknpurplelizard - no corelation though :P

Bananaz - not grass is greener eh?

zewt said...

Melisa - well, you ought to stay here to know that sometimes, rigidity is better than lawlessness.

jam - hahaha... but will u stay in singapore or malaysia in the long run?

huei - that's not the big picture.

Farina - had such experiences once too many. and at least they didnt ask u... 'is malaysia under china'?

sabrina - u sure???

Jun - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

InjusticeSistem - cant confirm your fact 3... i have read some singaporean blogs... all of them come here and then say how blessed they are in singapore.

zewt said...

day-dreamer - hehe...

mirachantek - hello there... well, do your singaporean friends wanna come stay here? as compared to those who bragged about singapore wanted to stay in singapore?

j - nope, to the singaporeans, they know the better pitch is not on this side.

gordon - absolutely, i couldnt agree more.

cleffairy - to us, the greener grass is the other side, to them, they know the grass there is better but they say the grass here is better. und?

sinlady - hehe...

bee - thus, dont even try to please them :)

zewt said...

anon aka oz - and only certified doc in msia and spore :)

flaminglambo - depends on how you define babes.

The question they have been asking is, 'why are the expats beating the crap out of Singaporeans?'

any ideas Zewt ?

Pinknpurplelizard said...

There is a sort of relation but depends on which sort of level and eye u see it from. :P

Hansac said...

Zewt,

don't tell me the GREAT ZEWT does not understand sarcasm or parody.

Actually my point is this: in Malaysia the Malay Muslims are too dependent on the government to protect their rights as Muslims, such that they forget God Himself. In other parts of the world, Muslims completely rely on God.

Paham ke tak ni Zewt. Hope not too complex for you.

fufu said...

erm... well if the political problems are not that ridiculous... i think more singaporeans will flow into the country i guess...

zewt said...

anon aka oz - haha... the foreign corporations will prefer to have their own ppl there, cant help it.

pinknpurplelizard - from the food loving malaysian eye? :)

Hansac - no i do :)... well, when it comes to that notion, i cant comment much...

fufu - yeah, provided they can continue to earn sgd...
