5 reasons we won't be nuke-d

Some readers made some very interesting point about power plants in my previous entry. I must say some of the facts mentioned there are news to me. I guess they are right, we should not let poor governance limits the opportunity of our brightest talents rising to the occasion and fulfil their potential.
But then again, I wonder how many Malaysian talents will return to contribute to a nuclear plant. Any takers?

Anyway, I think we don’t really have to worry about the reactor coming into reality. For all you know, it might just be one of those Malaysian thing, know what I mean? Here are 5 reasons why the reactor might not happen even if we choose to build it…

Number 5…
At the end of the construction deadline (which has been extended for God knows how many times), the roof leaks and there is no budget to fix it.

Number 4…
The state in which the reactor is situated fell to opposition and the big boss pulled the funding…

Number 3…
Rising material cost halted the project and then discontinued…

Number 2…
The reactor was actually only used to cook ‘roti canai’ and for engineers to play ‘batu seremban’ and ‘gasing’ under radiated environment…

Number 1…
The next PM stopped the project citing mud sale issues…

#6...
after signing mou with china, will turn the reactor into a giant 'siew-g' facilities for that massive farm in kuala langat.

haha..as a structural engineer..i must agree with you

No. 4 had me laughing so hard... and I'm pretty sure it'd be the most likely too. ;)

hahaha...i thought it was friday edi.
reactor to make roti canai, thats a good one and make sure they have the halal sign on it...lol.

hahahahah very good one!!!

Malaysia doesn't need home-grown talent for the nuclear project. The VVIP only need to bring it their 'brethren' from Iran.

And, because power from nuclear plant can be transmitted to other states, #4 is also not valid.

But I do agree with the other reasons ;)

#7 we didn't show off our nuke during the merdeka parade... :)

roti canai being cook using nuke sure is 5 star hotel standard. LOL

Lol, no 2 is quite likely...

Besides, the radiated roti canai may seem tastier and cheaper too (since no need to use gas) (sic!) .

Batu seremban and gasing under radiated environment? As long there's on fusion reaction lah ... heh heh

i'm definitely not coming back to help, that's for sure even though i'm doing architecture. I definitely dun wanna be one of the contributors who kill our own people with the nuke.

and personally, i dun think this whole nuclear power thing will happen in msia.

i hope that you have an email address for me to ask you something. i read alot about your post when it comes to the working matters of life but somehow there is one thing that i need to seek your guidance from. do let me know. thanks

anon aka beeranyone - hahaha... and i wonder who sign it.

will chow - and i am proud to have an engineer agreeing with me.

life for beginners - and not the first? damn...

xonar - of cos lah... that goes without saying.

huei - :)

khengsiong - from iran hahahahah!!

alan zed - boom!!!

BossCat - u dare to eat ah?

anon @ 23/7 12.10pm - heh heh... dunno what is fusion reaction though.

purple mushroom - how come no one laugh at number 1 lah?

nikz - it might... but not in the end... ok, i hope i am making sense.

huntressmoon - it's at the side bar u know :)

look, a simple waste incinerator also they can't build. what more a nuclear power plant?

They should actually speed-up the biofuel Palm Oil (which we produce in abundance) projects. They have been dilly-dallying for years,I meant those ppl who got the grant and the gov. Also, these non-porky eaters never really realise that piggies can really help produce energy.

Basically it has to do with using piggy crap which creates methane gas which in turn can be used as energy. This helps with the carbon credit. Soo.... Oinky oink anyone?

Actually, biofuel palm oil will not help right now because even though there's a large inventory stock for now, it's considered a food crop. So unless you don't mind cooking oil prices going through the roof, then let's not talk palm oil based biofuel.

Also, most of the research is only up to 5% to 15% palm oil mixture, with diesel.

As for the methane from piggy crap, I think they do that in Canada. Read a research paper somewhere about that.

The palm oil industry is looking into methane collection from effluent ponds.

A bit too much industrial info, sorry :)

A leaky roof didn't stop them in Parliament. However, considering the recent happening in Penang....perhaps structural damage will stop the reactor.

Or perhaps we'll adopt our PM's tak apa attitude.

"Dato' Seri, the nuclear plant has a leak"

"Tak apa, tak apa"

haih....

myop101 - some engineers who commented will say you underestimate them :)

pinknpurplelizard - need new project so that new funds can be spent mah... oink oink... i only like to eat :P

Aput - i am all for alternative energy but i seriously dont want to compromise on pollution. i would rather pay than to pollute the environment. the reaction should be... "berapa duit mau untuk baiki?"

Totally agree, if we have a leader who doesn't keep his words!
