A new look, a new hope

First and foremost, a very big thank you to Criz who was kind enough to make a new banner for me free of charge. Unfortunately for him, he found out that I was quite a pain in the ass… it’s done free and I have the guts to ask for modification here and there. Thanks Criz for putting up to all my shit… haha!

Anyway… this is probably the last time I will be talking this country’s affairs. I have given up hope… entirely. And since I see no colour of hope last Friday, I reckon I am not the only one. Tingtitlei said that the colour of hope is not exactly a movement for a change, but rather a sign that we actually give a shit. He is absolutely right… and it’s very obvious that we all don’t give a shit.

Moving on… I find it really incredible that the blogs over the last few days have all been rather “patriotic”. I think one out of 3 blogs which I read over the last few days have got heavy dose of ‘merdeka’ in it. Ironically though, the meaning of ‘merdeka’ according to these blogs paint a very different picture as compared to our comics mainstream newspaper.

While some of us are PhD holders in Afraidology, my spirits are lifted, albeit only a little, by the willingness of some bloggers to voice out their true feelings about our recent celebration. One entry I would like to particularly point out is a brilliant entry written by an 18-year-old girl about what exactly is ‘merdeka celebration’ to her. Check out her level of awareness, absolutely incredible. Such entry puts a lot of us to shame, particularly those PhD holders in Afraidology. Can't blame them though, most such PhD holders have gone through the module called I-now-have-a-family.

By the way, have you all seen the video done by these terrorists-wannabe? Go have a peep...

So… why new hope for me then? Well… I now look at the new horizon with great hope. A new horizon that sets upon a land filled with grass… away from the stench of mud, for I know this land will remain muddy for a long time to come. I have always wanted to stay and cultivate the land, but it seems that the mud is getting softer and softer for us to even stand on it… how then are we to live? I will do all that I can to ensure that quest for grassy pastures will only breed success! That’s my new hope.

Once again… thanks Criz for a brand new look for AZAIG. What do you all think?

Have a blue-less Monday… try…

P/S: A big thank you to Kenny Mah as well… for the previous banner is his work of art.

imagine a Malaysia which has been completely brain drained..

imagine a Malaysia which is based solely on Muslim teachings..

imagine a Malaysia without these hands *faham fahamlah tangan siapa* that helped bring this nation up.

I love the combination of orange & your facial expression.. fiery & aggressive.. again very much you.

I wish you all the best in the new horizon. Will catch up with you there. ;)

it is a very disappointing day for me too. I wore bright yellow t-shirt, was out for more than 4 hours, driving around and I noticed none wore yellow too. Sigh... perhaps, the grass is greener on the other side....

you can rant, you can shout, you can scream....the point is...can you change even one single thing? last friday would have shown you the answer. i'm sure everybdy is pissed off at the things you mention. discuss abt it and it gets everybdy so riled up. but what are you doing abt it, besides ranting and grumbling? more to the point, what CAN you do abt it? therein lies the answer to why we are so passive, so disillusioned.

you can spend your life being annoyed, being frustrated and wasting your life complaining abt things that you can't change....or you can spend it concentrating on the things that make you smile, the things that are truly important, like yr loved ones, the things that you can change and shape and the things that do mean something. all this anger pent up can't be good for the body. didn't someone somewhere said to always look on the positive side? if you can't change the country at one go, why not start from your own family? one small step....

soulblade - yup... not only thinking. making it happen.

Jemima - cool... let's set up a new community there... hah!

anon @ 8.40 - not greener... just grass... cos there arent any here.

me - yeah... i think i rather channel all those energy to something that is actually worthwhile... think grass. that's why... i am looking at the positive side. all these things make it easier for me to leave i guess.

hor ny - well... if you think hard enough... i am sure there is a grassy land that you can go to...

cirnelle - wahhhhh.... quoting bible already? where did that come from?

I don't think many people are aware of the yellow thingy. If I did not read it from your blog, I won't know as well. Anyway... i forgot all abt yellow last friday and wore orange instead. Close to yellow also, I guess. hahahaa.

Hmmm... sorry to hear that the ranting of this theme seems to be endless.

Can oversea Chinese belong anywhere ?

Will they ever be part of a dominate culture in an adopted land ?

Will they ever assimilate ?

Would a "Yellow Skin" child asked why is he/she different from the "White Skin" classmates around him ?

The little mind and his/her little questions :
Where was my papa and mama from ? Why are my eyes so different from my classmates ?
Why are my eyes so small ?
Why are my eyes not blue ?
Why are my hair not blonde ?
Why is my papa/mama not speak the kind of English like my classmates parents ?
Please papa and mama, do not visit me in school, I am embarrassed with your English.

good luck in your new hope. may it be lush and green forevermore for you.

A pigeon is symbol of hope. Does the image imply that hope is burning out? Of am I short sighted and it's suppose to a phoenix rising from the ashes?

It's gonna be ramadhan soon u know?

the flag hoisting thing by kj & the speech by that jeanne's husband during the eve - damn it looks like an amno's party.

to the rest mca & mic, sorry la, merdeka was never meant for you guys.

Mcmercedez said...

Hi there mate.. The new banner looks great.. Well, i guess the people here are not as united as other country.. Or maybe they have pushed the people to react that way..

I've watch the link on the terrorist wannabe.. Sigh.. Is this how they portray their own kind? That's sad..

Have you also watch the people's video reply on that? You should watch it.. So funny..

Like Cocka said before, maybe there are more people with yellow undies underneath than you know.

Like Tingtitlei said, it's just a show of support. I do like what you're doing in your blog. You are making a stand which I think is very important. Many 'thinking' bloggers blogged about 'thoughts' and yet never have the courage to show their own stand. Unlike you. :-)

Make a difference? Do it at the polls. You registered already or not??? lol

conan_cat said...

well yeah, how many malaysians did you see go yellow that day?? agree that many of us are pretty stuck in afraidology that we would rather shut up than talk about it. at least when we talked about it people will know. and knowing is one thing, doing is another.

so if people don't even talk about it, they suck bad. if people knew about it, they suck a little better. if people do things, they're doomed. because malaysia cannot tolerate goblok ppl that sings negarakuku.

sharlydia said...

Like ur new banner...dem cool!

Infact i've lost hope too looking at the many "things" happening in our country...But yet, none of it has hit my face directly as yet so that's y i can still have the attitude of "dont-give-a-shit"...

rinnah said...

I was in yellow and I was looking for people who were in yellow... but nary a person to be found. *sigh*

The new banner's really HOT! As in burning hot man... can't take my eyes off the fiery flames.

All the best in your quest for green-land. Wish I could go too.

Hmm...I guess I'm the most pessimistic judging from the rest of you guys...

Well, saying the "give a shit" part to me, I find it quite contradicting to the gist of the origin : RPK's concept of Civil Disobedience. If it's not for the sake of creating the "awareness", seriously, might as do it in the undergarment.

Hope no offense, by creating the "yellow tag" , it's not only reversing the spirit of "give a shit" but at the time, not creating any real value of "awareness". Hence my statement of "contradicting".

Well, I may be wrong. Maybe this is the style of Web 2.0

Haiyah... tell you what went wrong - underestimation of the power of marketing.
Besides this blog, that blog, seriously, how many people are aware?
Out of the people who are aware, how many are motivated to do per campaign?
Marketing dei, marketing...

OK, seen the clip (office pc got some firewall or something on youtube). For u-know-who, he revealed himself and u can even guess his potbelly size. But for those 4 lads, i dunno whether they understood what true bravery really means other than acting like wannabe ninja-alqaeda-ISA detainees or merely shy guys (aaawwwww....jejaka pemalu gitewww)....but they sure match ur dungeon and dragon kinkiness (see my previous comment) ;-D

PS: on a not so light note, i saw lotta yellow during merdeka eves.....in my toilet!!! poor tummy...poor colon....poor me!

zewt said...

angel - hehe... what do u think?

HC Tan - thanks... quite like this header... well, wait till the millions run out... then it will be interesting.

Huei - yeah... give up... fed up... just let it be.

purple mushroom - hahaha... ok lor... i guess close enough. anyway... it was not exactly success here either.

kayatan - i guess yellow skin ppl will forever be foreign in whichever soil we step on... except probably china and HK. having said that... yellow skin ppl do not like to stay in those 2 countries. it's ironic isnt it?

may - thank you... :)

Ah Pek - i would think it's a phoenix... kinda like it to be a phoenix... the bird of flame which comes to aid of those who are righteous... according to professor dumbledore.

zewt said...

jorji - harap harap semua hidup aman damai.

Manal - and... your point about ramadhan being....? something to do with 80s glamrock cover? :)

Angie Tan - yeah... one guy made a reply to that video... so funny... ppl really have too much time in their hand.

Calvin's wife - yeah... looks like ppl only know how to talk cock and that's it. what a waste of time.

cibol - i await your new banner.. hehe...

AngryYoungChild - really? write about it and i shall check it out later. yeah... i am... i used to attend DUMC...now at BLC.

constant craver joe - well... looks like we may be on the same page ;)

zewt said...

anon @ 1.54 - well... i think merdeka is meant for everyone. hope i dont get into any trouble with your comment. see if i will delete it...

Mcmercedez - yeah... i watched that... so so so damn funny. i wonder if this will also be blown out of proportion. and do u think those terrorist will be arrested?

Helen - well... such bravery is dangerous nowadays... make us vulnerable. me... i voted in the last election... what you think? :P

conan_cat - we are malaysians after all... only know how to talk and rant and that's it. should there be a chance to really make a difference, i wonder if i will do anything either. such is the hypocrite in us.

sharlydia - i hope it wont hit you one day. it hasnt hit me too.... and i harbour the same hope.

rinnah - i am sure you could go too... just the destination may be a lil limited. let me do some research.

Domjr - yup... it's called an affluent predicament... ppl have more self worth now... there may be a change in axis perhaps... haha...

zewt said...

free thinker - haha... to each its own... we have our own thinking and manner to achieve things. but no matter what... i think it's important to be united... stay on the right course and support each other. one those elements are gone... we are nothing but a bunch of scattered twigs.

Maxforce - hahaha... RPK should have employed nuffnang or advertlets eh? haha!

narrowband - hahahahah... i never know that... kuala lumpur... indeed... indeed!!! as for pinkpau... that entry was so refreshing.

adrian - they are definitely real... whether they are for real... no one knows.

MissSHopaholic - well... take it as... zewt.. rising from hell!! hahahaha...

seaqueen - well... fed up...

manal again - i am very sure ISA will not do anything about those bunch of morons. poor colon eh... what did u eat la?

Anonymous said...

wah....so HELL HOT.....why so panas like tat???

Anonymous said...

This banner is nicer than the last one. It looks angry and fierce!

Trader Max said...

Nah, nuffnang and advertlets are advertisers, not marketers. Though advertising would be needed in marketing but not the whole concept of it.
The product isnt that good, but a good marketer would be able to make Eskimos wanting to buy ice :P

zewt said...

cyen - nice mah... i am hot! hahahahahaha....

seok thong - hahaha... thanks. fierce...hmmmm....

maxforce - hahaha... well, no matter what, i just think ppl are just ball-less.

Mcmercedez said...

Well, zewt.. To be arrested or not to be, it depends on our officials whether they (govt) want to make it a big issue or not..

Let see what they will do with the terrorist wannabe.. I think they will do a cover-up on this.. This is because it's their own kind.. hahah...

Anonymous said...

it might be mud, but it's still home.

Hey buddy, new look eh?
I just wonder if the five-Os will take swift action like what they did after receiving the report from mohd s/o mohd!
Here, theres sufficient background pix for them to analyse.....

Trader Max said...

They are... we are, as a matter of fact. But saying that would not solve the issue, would it?
Question is, how to make them less ball-less heh heh

zewt said...

Mcmercedez - hahaha... so direct meh... well... what do u expect. we already see it... some dude built a mansion... apologise... all charges dropped. some dude... sing a song... apologised... still have to face the law it seems.

sunflower - unfortunately so... unfortunately so...

alliedmaster - 50 bucks on them not doing anything... what say u?

maxforce - i think there will be a breaking point... just dunno where and when. hey... when u free... bak kut teh in klang la... apa lagi! hahaha....

Trader Max said...

You know my email. Shoot me an email when ur coming loh. Hah hah

Mcmercedez said...

Zewt.. I think you will win the bet.. Definitely they will do nothing at all.. I think I'll double up on that.. haha..

CRIZ LAI said...

Wow.. thanks for the mention Zewt. I have read through the comments and I saw a few that really understand the concept behind the design. I am impressed that they can read my mind.

To clarify things further...it means trying very hard to gain freedom (dove) from hell (colors used). The cliff at the background represented the far horizon. It looks so near and yet it's so far to reach without any effort or mode of transport. The face depicts you, Zewt. It symbolizes you thinking and hoping to find a solution to the existing problems.

Well, you are not a pain in the ass . The design just need a bit of modifications and I am used to it though. Glad everyone enjoyed it. All the best with the new look and new hope!

zewt said...

maxforce - where ... your blog or msn? i shall check it out.

mcmercedez - hahahah... i am sure all of us will win...

CRIZ LAI - yeah... looks like there are a lot of thinking reader too. well... i just like the whole feel of it... the fire-ry phoenix and all... i feel i can connect to it. this banner gonna stay for a while...
