From poll result to postcard and a study

"I release you”, my pastor told me today after church.

Now, for those who are not aware, I attend a church where we serve “refreshments” after the service. Sometimes, such refreshments are as good as lunch. Today was such a day. But I couldn’t eat as today is the 3rd day of the lunar calendar which means I am to be a vegetarian today. So my pastor was trying to release me but since it’s not a matter of religion but a matter of principal, no can't do. As I’ve mentioned before, the difficulty in being vegetarian is looking for vegetarian food. It’s so tough that I haven’t had dinner. Guess I will have to wait till 12am so that I can cook myself an instant noodle. Hopefully to I’ll finish this entry by then.

A very big thank you to those who participated in the poll which I put up in the last 3 weeks or so. For your information, a total of 167 visitors voted. Based on my stats, A.Z.A.I.G. has about 350 to 400 unique visitors a day, which means slightly less than 50% of visitors voted. Hey… it’s ok if you don’t vote here. But when the General erection Election finally comes, I sincerely hope you all will exercise your rights wisely. By the way, A.Z.A.I.G. stands for As Zewt As It Gets.

On an unrelated note, one of my friends in Italy received a postcard from Malaysia. She was kind enough to scan the postcard to let me have a look. And me being kind as well, I should share with you all… click to enlarge.

I am so proud! I mean which country in Asia got the privilege to be called “Venice of Asia”? This is certainly one feat that should make its way into the Malaysian Books of Records. It will also be refreshingly different from the usual biggest pizza or biggest ‘yee sang’ stuff, don’t you think?

Last but not least, read about the gomen setting up a task force to study the need to regulate internet sites. They intend to monitor sites which contain porn and of course… blogs. Not just blogs that criticise the gomen but other blogs as well. Blogs like yours and mine. Think I am screwed! Sigh… since my previous entry is rather erotic, I wonder if they will shut down A.Z.A.I.G… Gasp!

Jokes aside, I find it quite a waste of resources to study on actions to be taken against porn sites or blogs when our streets are filled with serial rapists. For those who are unaware, there have been multiple gang rape cases in our country and they all happened in the last one week. Why don’t a task force be set up to handle this issue?

You know why? My friend kenninaz has brilliantly explained it here. A good read… and after reading it… let us all shout together… this is…!!!!

That's the whole problem with the system. If you call them up to report that there were some old men gambling illegally, they would arrive within 5 minutes and then, bald their heads. If you tell them, there is a robbery, they would wait a few hours to respond - afraid to be shot. Heck.

The gomen just can't seem to be bothered with the big issues. Sometimes I feel embarrassed to be a Malaysian when I read about all the "great plans" they come up with.

That's why la... blog about birthdays and tags is safer, rite? Heh...

What is the world coming to, huh? Anyway, have a good week ahead!

i think we should be proud of our place as it is instead of trying to associate it with another famous place. still, proud of the effort in promoting that.

i have to agree wit u. i think they need to focus on other stuffs rather than people's blog. haha. it would be a fun job tho, reading ppl's blog and determine whether or not its enough to discriminate the gov.

i did vote :p

oh ya, guess what... i got a forwarded email, the content was one of ur post!

"you are the reason"

Hahhaha, surprise~

Actually there's vegetarian instant noodle out there. Maybe you should buy some for your vegetarian day.

The handwriting from the postcard is very staright! Hehe! But isn't the picture of the postcard is a little bit fake? Or is it really true?

You know what is funny, Zewt?
A commenter left a 'complain' in my previous posting about "10 Things Every Woman Should Try". She wondered why most blogs like to post about sex or something similar. (My goodness, there were only two points about sex out of 10 and she chose to zero in on that 2 and make it sound like I was talking about sex. hahaha)
I told her to look around - not everyone does that all the time. Bloggers talk about other things too.
Then I wanted to suggest that she browse through my blogroll and see for herself. Suddenly I remembered Zewt had a sexy posting up about Calorie Count. Zewt is #2 on my blogroll. I would have to eat my own words. I decided against giving that suggestion. hahaha

Anyway, the 'gomen' should put their efforts in eliminating real problems out there in the streets. They are so hell bent on cracking down on bloggers but they forget the rakyat live in fear of escalating crimes. Clean up the streets first.
Our country's leaders damn good in throwing money where it should not go. We don't need to buy glory for the country. When a country is running well and majority of the citizens are happy, then the results will speak for itself.

If they want to promote tourism, fix the attitude first. Are we truly Asia? Or are we slowly moving towards the slogan - Malaysia, the less populated Indonesia. :D

We have a Multimedia Bill of Guarantees? I didn't know that. What's in it? (stupid question. Guarantees lah!) What are the guarantees? (Besides "Thou shalt not censor the internet"... but SC went ahead and shut down quite a number of websites anyway... no, that's not censorship, that's shutting down criminal activities without a trial). Yup, Zewt. You're doomed.

I took the pole! See I contribute!

Malaysia famous for trying too hard. That should be in the Book of Records. So we won't have to try so hard to achieve all those crazy thing using the money for community support.

JT - hahaha... well, maybe that person is a lil deprived and is envy? :P... anyway, shouldnt be affected by them dont u think?

as for the gomen, we all know what they should do. whether they will or want to do it, that's a whole different thing. it's certainly very scary to think that here will turn into indon.

cirnelle - yeah, they already shut down a few sites, so u think the guarantee is working? besides... like what kenninaz said... this ... is... ok, i am doomed.

jaezrel - i dont think they wanna swim in such muddy places leh. think they prefer sun bathing on grassy ground.

constant craver joe - most interactive blog... that's a very nice thing to know. and it happened becos you all made it so.

ah nel - i was vege for 49 days. i am not complaining, just difficult to find food.

me - think to open up a whole can of baked beans for myself... that's a bit too much right? yeah, should have bought some pasta... but was lazy.

aSstHa - vege during CNY... that's one of the worst torture around! haha... anyway, when you accomplish it... it does feel good right? ahh... i see that you are using the sam jiu phrase very well... :) ahh... another phrase you've introduced... 'sai hei'.

alan zed - on the 3rd day of the lunar month. oh, i should have link it to the post where i made the promise. shall do it after this.

rinnah - yeah, the postcard was classic! hahah... in fact, i received a lot of other funny mails too, but dowan to contaminate my blog with too many pictures.

I won't worry too much about the task force. Malaysians excel in hoohoo-haha when planning but when it comes to execution... well, you know the rest. LOL

P.S. The postcard's hilarious... esp the last line. But also embarrassing lah for us... :P

The resemblance between KL and venice is hysterical! Love the gondola backed by the twin towers there...heh.

Wow...so many visitors daily ah? If only I had come earlier, I would have gladly participated in your poll...I love taking polls and surveys!

Perfect service in goverment sector.. Please ler. There are once i tried to call TNB to make a complaint and guess how many calls i have to make just to make a complaint..It took me half an hour and about 5 calls just to speak to the customer service.. My god..Is that what u call a perfect service Zewt ??

zewt said...

Winn - cannot la... i try to be as pure as possible. it's for my mom... i better do it properly, else meaningless... dont u think?

constant craver joe - woooaahhh... can i charge advertising fees? hahahaha.... ok ok, i go check it out later.

ah nel - a few months? wow... that's long. why la? budget?

Kenny Mah - yeah, i know the rest. but at the same time... dont underestimate their impulse... they can act suddenly.

kyh - working for the days where i will breach 500! the last time i breached 500 was during my mom's passing period. :| oh... yeah, i know you're a vegan... my respect!

giddy tiger - well, i will certainly be putting up more polls :)... hope to see your vote then.

amanda - well, i never say they are perfect. i am equally perplexed at such KPI. well... at least you finally managed to speak to customer service... most just give up after being transferred around the world... the call i mean.

You are right, Zewt. We shouldn't allow the negative commenters to affect us.

Of course, that 'task force' is another issue. Some are screwed. (too much sex and politics around). :D
I wouldn't worry about your blog, Zewt. You diversify. :)

zewt said...

bubbly soda - well done!

ah nel - 38 inches... okay... then i think you need to... :P... no hard feelings ok.

JT - yeah... i diversify a lot. begining to feel i am direction-less... which i am not sure if it's a good thing. perhaps i should start a poll on that.

happy-suang said...

haha. I know. I feel like giving up on the call but i cant. cos it's urgent.. That is not the worst experience. Sometimes i have to deal with the TNB on hehalf of my boss and my com..Talking to them is like talking to the wall especially the conversation is conducted in english..some of them cant even understand a simple eng. my god.

zewt said...

amanda - hahaha... when it's part of your job, it sucks big time. i used to deal a lot with the inland revenue board... so i thoroughly understand your predicament.

may said...

sorry hor, didn't vote. but I'm sure you know which category I belong to, lol! whatodo, my mind's in hibernation...

now, if only there really were gondolas in KL - that would be the best mode of transportation during floods, and so style-o-milo too!

zewt said...

may - yeah, i think i should suggest to the transport ministry to have some gondolas ready... just in case God intends to give us the Venice status more often.
