Feeling sleepy?

This is where I usually park my car on a regular Sunday afternoon when I am at Jules’ place. There are places inside her house to fit my car but her dad usually washes their cars on a Sunday afternoon so I tend to park outside (as shown in picture), so that her dad can move the cars around without having to deal with my car occupying space.

But today, I decided to park my car inside her house, and thank God I did. Half way while watching the Singapore Open badminton final, we heard a big 2 big ‘bang’, no no no… no new universe was made, there were sound of collision. We peeped out of the window and we could only see what is in front of the house. It was this…

Curiosity led us downstairs and we were right, there was an accident. This was what we saw…

Couldn’t really see anything right? Basically, a Proton Waja went out of control and rammed into a pole (refer to picture above), and crashed into a Proton Saga parked on the neighbour’s side. And accordingly, the Proton Saga rammed into a Proton Wira parked outside the neighbour’s house. Yeah, the Saga is basically sandwiched. Here is a better picture…

I wanted to take more pictures but the driver but since everyone there wasn’t really showing me a friendly face, I better bugger off.

Anyway, the driver of the Waja said she (yup… it’s a she) fell asleep on the wheel. The owner of the Saga said those people in the Waja looked as though they just came down from Genting. Fell asleep on the wheel!!!! Notice the tree next to the crash site? Had they hit the tree, they won't live to see another day.

We have just had a brief discussion earlier about morons, and while I sympathise them for crashing their car, I can't help but think what they did was rather ‘moranic’. How many times have we heard of people losing not only their cars, but their lives because they fell asleep while driving? But do we listen? Have you fell asleep on the wheel before?

Jules has got a friend who works for a very glamorous IT consulting firm, one that currently pays a fresh grad RM4k. On the average, this friend of Jules crashes her (yup, it’s also a she) twice a year. The reason…? She fell asleep on the wheel. The reason…? She worked late. Well, the bliss and risk of working in a big glamorous firm. By the way, she still works in the same firm and still crashes her car on a regular basis. Will she ever learn? God knows.

Next time, if you’re sleepy, please stop your freaking car and take a nap by the roadside or something. If you always work late which results in you feeling sleepy while driving, do something about it before you freaking kill someone! You wouldn’t wanna live to tell your sorry stories.

Anyway, I must thank God because of this…

Thank you Lord for your divine intervention.

Thank ur lucky star, moon & whatever that u park ur car inside. Falling while driving is quite common 'sickness' as a lot of m'sia driver have a stressfull life. Wish u a nice week.

And just so you don't freaking kill yourself when you try taking a nap by the roadside in your car, to be found a week later in the final stages of decomposition, switch off the car engine that comes with the air-conditioner.

You are lucky Zewt. That was definitely divine intervention.
By the way, your experience shows that both drowsy drivers were women. I wrote an entry about this in April: Drowsy Driving - A Malaysian Way? Statistics show it is usually men who cause drowsy-driving accidents. But you were fortunate enough to know two women who did it. Bravo! hehehe
Both genders are to be blamed equally. :)

*phew*... u were lucky and someone up der was looking out 4 ya...

i personally hv a few brushes of almost fallin' asleep at the wheel in d morning as i'm not really a morning person n i dash outta my hse jz to beat the traffic jam up in bu... but luckily manage to break in the neck of time (touchwood)... i normally keep awake by smoking/blasting my radio to MCR (confirm wake me up from my slumber)... hahaha... but it's bad... really...

sometimes wen i'm out w my frens til late i end up crashing @ their place incase i fall asleep at the wheel but always end up getting nagged at by my mom for not coming home to sleep... can't win either way...

TingTitLei said...

people like that should be banned from driving. theyre just jeopardizing the safety of everyone else.

ooo so youre a christian ? please do come over to my blog and answer my questions =)

lucky you dude :) those morons deserve it, falling asleep at the wheel, is it not ask for it? have no pity for them. But, really they bring danger not only for themselves but other innocent lives as well (or cars :D) farking selfish.. hmm, i blast my radio super loud or talk on the phone (with handsfree of course) whenever i feel sleepy...works for me~!

Falling asleep while driving? o.O

That woman must have been very very sleepy!

zewt said...

constant craver joe - new car??? i rather not go through the hassle. with new models recently launched, my car depreciated substantially. would rather avoid all that.

Hor Ny - yeah, it's a disease that we can avoid, but we are stupid enough not to do it.

Cirnelle - having said that, better not park and sleep by the roadside, cars can still rammed into you.

Jemima - indeed!

zeroimpact - that includes drinking too!

Gallivanter - very close, about 15 minutes after i got into the house...

ritchie - hey there! welcome to As Zewt As It Gets! you better not going that anymore. You can't be slapping yourself all the time.

economist - yeah!!!!! GLORY back to where it belongs!!! too many cars, we cant help it. but falling asleep, that is definitely within our control

zewt said...

jaezrel - yup... you're bad luck cos that woman knock you... :P

rinnah - yeah, it was really close. you have to be me to feel the blessing.

angel - damn jeles!!!!!

sc - oh, love food blog. your's cool! hope to see ya around.

JT - well, when it comes to drink and drive, have to admit my species is always at fault. having said that, you're right, both gender are at fault definitely.

zewt said...

aSstHa - blasting the radio aint a good way. have a friend who met an accident cos she (yes, it's a she again :P) blasted her radio, and while switching lanes, she couldnt hear another car honking her... i am sure you know what happened next. as for crashing at friends' place, i am sure the nagging is much better than a crash.

TTL - hahaha... you issue them the ban notive ok? :P... yeah, i am, i shall go over later.

bongkersz - i just said... dont blast your radio too loud. have a friend who met an accident cos she (yes, it's a she again :P) blasted her radio, and while switching lanes, she couldnt hear another car honking her... i am sure you know what happened next. so dont blast too loud.

angele - she was coming down from a gambling resort... i guess she didnt sleep at all.

kyh said...

thank goodness for that! another reason why u guys shudnt go gamble all nite long.

Rabbit said...

Lucky you! =) I always drink chicken essense when i feel like im gonna be sleepy all day long. It does help. =P

the worst is to kill some innocent people with our very own carelessness.

The Lord is awesome!

Maverick SM said...

Lucky guy... call it the law of coincidence or treat it as divine intervention; but, it's risks and it's risk management...don't rely on metaphysics too much as God will also get angry.

zewt said...

kyh - just shouldnt drive when you're not up for it. that's more important. but yeah, gambling is not cool too.

Rabbit - hahaha... that's for exams la... not for driving.

bubbly soda - and worse... you kill innocent people and you live... you will live the rest of your life with regrets and guilt... the Lord is awesome indeed.

Maverick SM - well, i have to count my blessings. I will never park outside the house ever again.

narrowband said...

Hmm. Accenture? But yeah, nobody should ever crash their cars 'on a regular basis'!!

Huei said...

thank god ur car wasn't parked there!!

yea..i guess lots of people falls asleep while driving, my bro's friend once told him that it was the best sleep he ever had and woke up when his car crashed -.-

~aSstHa~ said...

zewt,

no worries... blasting but still able to hear outside noise... cos when i blast the radio my window in mostly down and hving a fag... hahaha... jz enuf to keep me entertained but not so much till it shut out noise from outside...

Anonymous said...

no worry zewt, switch lanes while blasting radio make sure look at the side mirror and back mirror lah.. :D ah, your friend.. poor she.. he he he

zewt said...

kyh - heh heh... you got it right... :)

Huei - wah, he can still wake up... good for him. some ppl wont wake up to tell their tale.

aSstHa - oh, if you have your window down, then i guess it should be ok. yeah, noise from outside is crucial, in some case la.

bongkersz - hahahaha.... are u saying my friend is a bad driver? hah!

It saved your car...!

Fell asleep, exactly what happened on Greys Anatomy on Sunday lol.

admin@cora-links.com said...

wow, ur lucky to not have gotten your car tangled up in that mess! But its true, a lot of people fall asleep on the wheel, even me, but you have to always insist on pulling over and catching 40 winks, its a matter of life and death, so dont bother debating with yourself when ur sleepy on the wheel! :)

SuLee said...

gosh hey lucky you,and what are u trying to say that we ladies crash all the time or we fall asleep easier than you men?

doze off from working late sounds better than coming down from genting hor?

My sisters bf feel asleep at teh wheerl, about ayear ago. They were roadtripng interstate with other friends, convo of 4 cars in total.

Fell asleep at 110k/ph (75miles) ran it up a garud rail fliped 3times and my sister was hurled from the side window. hit the pavment and was air lifted via helicopter to a hospital 1000km (750miles) away. fractured skull and cuts. VERRY FUCKING LUCKY!

car was a ride off, driver (bf) had deep cut on his right elbow whilst the pasnagers were just shocked. would have been quite a sight for the cars behind. they were at teh front of the convo.
