Remembering Fathers

My pastor made a joke about Fathers’ day and Mothers’ Day today. He said most of us grew up singing the song “shi shang je you ma ma hao…” (Mother is the best in the world). So we’re really accustomed to motherly love. It sort of like built into my sub-conscious mind.

What about fathers? When it comes to father, the song we all learned was … “ge ren lai, jao ba-ba, ba-ba bu jai jia”… (Guest came, look for dad, dad not at home). Not very convincing isn’t it?

Joke aside, we cannot undermine the love of fathers. I have many friends (myself included), who aren’t very close with our fathers. Perhaps it is the culture that we grew up in. Whatever it is, their sacrifice, just like mothers’, is beyond any word can describe.

As we remember our earthly fathers today, I would also like to pray tribute to my heavenly father who made the greatest sacrifice ever. And it is good that we actually have a song that speaks about the Father’s love… one that made me tear… enjoy…

Happy Fathers’ Day to all Fathers.

Bless u, zewt! Nice song!!...

I think our traditional fathers assumed their role as breadwinners while the mums were the child-carers...and thus they were not as close to the kids and they couldn't seem to express themselves emotionally.

But rest assured...beneath the hard, seemingly cold exterior, the love and warmth are old somewhere in there!!!...I know, and I don't like it that way, so I try to be different with my daughter! Hope you will be with your kids too in future.

I think fathers has always been hidden behind the mother's view because most children are very attached to their mothers who takes care of them since young. But I'll always remember when my mum rotans me I'll always go running to my dad. Always my daddy's little girl. Hahhaha!!!

And I'm also blessed by the Father above that gave me my daddy on earth.

I grew up without the chance to get to know my father. During my angsty growing up teenage years, I found Father the God and question Him for not allowing me to get to know the person who fathered me. I eventually made peace with God and know deep inside me that my father is up in Heaven in God's arms, looking over me and my Mum. :)

I suppose the norm of mother's love being celebrated over father is because a father's love is often reserved. It's so quietly and softly displayed in many settled ways.

Well said, Zewt. Indeed, as I reflect on my earthly dad's love and sacrifices.. they are not perfect.. it's just a glimpse of what our Heavenly Father is! How wonderful and great He is.

Most of the time, mothers will always give their biggest sacrifice for their children.. As for me.. My dad did not do any of this at all.. I didn't have any father's love at all.. So I can't comment anything on this..

But I'm honoured that my father above have always be there for me and I'm blessed that I'm his son..

I can't seem to find myself sharing stories (personal) with my dad. Wth mum, I'm much better off. Dunno it's my ego or what... Hmm...
